[spoiler]Este es el unico album de la formacion original de la banda con Lemmy en bajo y voz, Larry Wallis en guitarra y voz y Lucas Fox en bateria. Durante las sesiones, el productor original Dave Edmunds renuncio a sus tareas siendo remplazado por Fritz Fryer. EL baterista Fox fue luego reemplazado por Phil "Philthy Animal" Tylor, un conocido ocacional de Lemmy a quien habia persuadido para que lo lleve a los estudios Rockfield. Tylor copio todas las pistas de Fox a excepcion de "Lost Johnny" como se le mantenia en prision a raiz de un arresto por su presunta embriaguez y alteracion del orden publico, cuando ese periodo de sesiones se debia realizar.
De las pistas, tres ("Motorhead", "The Watcher" and "Lost Johnny ") fueron re-grabaciones de canciones Lemmy había escrito y grabado con Hawkwind, "City Kids" fueron re-grabaciones de pistas de Wallis co-escritas y grabadas con The Pink Fairies, "Leaving Here" fue un cover de un tema de Holland/Dozier/Holland Motown que lemmy habia aprendido mientras "roadying"(no se que significa) para The Birds. "On Parole" fue grabada y sacada po Larry Wallis (ayudado por Eddie and the Hot Rods)como un lado B para Stiff Records, "Police Car" simple de 1977, despues de este album ha sido grabado, pero antes de su salida.
EN ese momento, United Artists no staba conforme con el potencial comercial del album y lo dejaron de lado despues de que la banda "disparara" a la UA todo el tiempo diciendo: 'Que mierda les pasa? Cuando sale el album? Cuando van a venir a uno de neustros recitales? Que pasa con la adquisiciond e una agencia?' Todo lo que deseabamos era mierda comercial, ya sabes, fotos y todo eso. Pero cuando volvimos de Rockfield con los maestros, claro, obtuvimos un gran: 'Oh genial fantastico', pero en las semanas siguientes se perdian es excusas y mierda". Despues de que la banda habia aumentado el exito comercial de los albumes Overkill y Bomber, UA re-evaluado el album y le dio una tardia liberacion a finales de 1979, a pesar de la desaprobacion de la banda.
